Ron Vega

Ron has extensive knowledge and experience in international trade, tax compliance, global logistics, and supply chain operations. He has over 17 years of proven results building and unifying global trade and tax compliance, and international supply chain and logistics programs that drive revenue and efficiencies, and produce consistent reductions in operating costs and corporate risk.

Ron, a Licensed Customs Broker, is highly proficient in the interpretation and application of International Trade and Tax laws across multiple jurisdictions including LATAM, EU, and EMEA, particularly indirect tax such as VAT, Excise and Environmental Taxes.  He specializes in tax optimization and risk mitigation strategies, and Customs compliance, to include Focused Assessments, ISA ARMs, AEO, CTPAT and Supply Chain security and other audits. He also has knowledge of the Export Administration Regulations (EAR), and International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), and is well versed in oil and gas, chemical and petrochemical, automotive, electronic, and textile industries and is experienced in all reporting requirements to include classification, value, origin and recordkeeping.  Ron has been a driver of change management using transformational leadership and coalition building to influence internal and external stakeholders to support business growth and facilitate continuous improvement.

Ron comes to us most recently from DL Trading where he was Vice President of Business Development, responsible for growth of the overall business strategy for one of the largest US importers. He also provided duty and tax savings to clients through application of trade programs, particularly duty drawback and was responsible for ensuring execution of the company vision and objectives including furtherance of US government expansion of HTS categories for import tax reduction opportunities.  Prior to DL Ron led and built Global Trade programs for BP, Valero, and Fruit of the Loom, and was a former Customs officer.  Ron started his career in US Customs, where he was responsible for coordinating and conducting extensive import/export compliance assessments and reviews of companies internal controls and operating procedures including broker reviews, warehouse audits for maquiladora operations, origin, marking, valuation, classification, and FTA’s. His background in international trade and tax compliance gives him a competitive edge when defining, implementing, and rolling out automated global trade and logistics programs, processes and or systems.

He received his undergraduate degree in Accounting from the University of Texas Pan American and his Juris Doctorate from Indiana University School of Law located in Indianapolis, Indiana with an emphasis on International Trade and Tax Law. Ron also has extensive studies in various topics in Project Management, Leadership, International Trade, Supply Chain, and Logistics.
