David Silk

David Silk is the Chairman Emeritus of the British American Chamber of Commerce, Ohio Region, a member of the British-American Business Council, the largest transatlantic business organization, whose objectives are to promote and stimulate business between the United Kingdom and the United States. The organization has 22 offices and 3,000 members throughout the United States and the United Kingdom. Established in 1994, BACC actively assists Ohio businesses seeking to develop United Kingdom and Western European markets. It also assists UK companies doing business in the United States, in cooperation with the British Government’s offices in the USA and the US Embassy in London. BACC works actively with the international economic development organizations in Ohio to develop exports, trade and investment between the UK and the USA

Mr. Silk is a Solicitor of the Senior Courts of England and Wales and the first Foreign Legal Consultant to have been licensed by the Supreme Court of the State of Ohio. Working with Counsel in over 50 countries, his legal practice concentrates in International Law, including International Commercial and Corporate Law, International Litigation and Immigration Law. Mr. Silk’s clients include both U.S. and foreign corporations and businesses, ranging from multi-national corporations and institutions to small businesses.

Mr. Silk is one of the founding partners of SGI Global Business Advisors LLC, a consulting firm dealing with and advising clients on International Economic Development and business matters. Established in 2003, SGI advises and conducts work on behalf of public and private sector clients including Governments, Municipalities, Chambers of Commerce, business development organizations, institutions and private clients on matters relating to international business and economic development. The firm has been extensively involved in trade missions, technology, business and industry cluster development in the areas of Water, Alternative Energy, Aerospace and Defense, Advanced Materials, Biotechnology, Information Technology and other fields involving a variety of countries in Europe, South America, Asia and the Middle East.

Mr. Silk has been actively involved in the international business and economic development communities in Ohio since 1991. In addition to his work for the British American Chamber of Commerce, he is a member of various international organizations in Ohio, including board membership of the Ohio Israel Chamber of Commerce, the Northeast Ohio International Business Network, Cleveland Council on World Affairs and other organizations.

In 2016, in recognition of his work in the area of International Economic Development, Mr. Silk was appointed a Fellow of the Royal Society for Arts, Manufactures and Commerce. Founded in 1754, the UK based RSA seeks to address and find solutions for social challenges and issues through innovation and collaboration in areas including the Economy, Education, Technology, Climate Change and many others.

Mr. Silk has lectured frequently on a variety of internationally related subjects including Exports, International Distributorship and Representation, Foreign Direct Investment and many others. He speaks English, French and Spanish.
